37 guides have so far registered for the 2018 edition of the "Guide for one Day" initiative, taking place from 30 June to 15 September.
Developed by the Ministry of the Economy, the initiative "Guide for one Day" invites everyone to become a volunteer guide to show their fellow citizens unusual places, lesser known landscapes, the practice of a sport, a leisure activity, hikes or curiosities and cultural attractions.
To date, 37 volunteer guides, offering 74 activities or tours, have registered for the 2018 edition on the "Guide for one Day" platform, including HRH Grand Duchess Marie Teresa for a guided tour of the Grand Ducal Palace, as well as public figures such as the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn, the author of "An American in Luxembourg" Mike McQuaide, the British Ambassador to Luxembourg John Marshall, the Secretary of State for the Economy Francine Closener, as well as former professional cyclist Fränk Schleck and champion Christine Majerus.
Interested persons who also wish to become "ambassadors" of Luxembourg by becoming a guide can still register on the "Guide for one Day" platform before 15 September 2018. Proposed activities should be around one hour and a half and will be held in the language chosen by the guide. The visits are addressed to a maximum of 10 people who confirm their participation by registering on the site www.guideforoneday.lu which is available in French, German, English and Luxembourgish.
